We're 2-0 and heading into Acrisure today for our first divisional game of the year, where a win gives us a 3-0 start for the first time since 2015 and the first of the Burrow era.

Cincy Region
BLINK light installation by the Roebling Bridge at night

RIVALRY WEEK STARTS HERE

It’s a big AFC North matchup as the Bengals head to Pittsburgh, but you don’t have to leave Cincy to get in on the action. Gather your crew at a local sports bar, grab a cold local brew (or some KY bourbon on the rocks) and cheer on the stripes with fellow fans. Make a weekend of it and discover why football season is one of the best times to visit Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky.

Beyond football, add October 8 – 11 to your calendar and experience BLINK, the nation’s largest public art festival that transforms the region into an immersive light and projection mapping experience.

THE GAME
Bengals 20, Texans 6: Defense Runs the Show in Houston

Joe Burrow in Houston

We went into Houston and punched a physical Texans team in the mouth for sixty minutes. The defense held C.J. Stroud and company to zero touchdowns, generated a 43.5% pressure rate, and limited the Houston run game to 18 yards on 14 carries.

JA'MARR CHASE
Ja'Marr Chase Made an All-Time Catch

His 32-yard first-half touchdown over Derek Stingley was described as "uncatchable" by Joe Flacco on the sideline and "probably the best catch I've ever seen in my life" by Adrian Peterson on Instagram. Chase himself said he couldn't even see the ball for a second: "I was just fighting, trying to get in position. But by the time I saw the ball, it was like in a light, and it came real fast."

He added an 18-yard TD in the third to close it out: seven catches, 75 yards, two scores. After a two-catch, 12-yard Week 1, he reminded the league exactly who he is.

Burrow and Chase also became just the fourth quarterback-receiver duo in NFL history to reach 50 career touchdown connections before either player turned 30. The other three: Dan Marino and Mark Clayton, John Hadl and Lance Alworth, and Daunte Culpepper and Randy Moss.

THE DEFENSE
Dexter Lawrence Is Already Worth It

Dexter Lawrence

Two weeks in, Lawrence is PFF's highest-graded interior defensive lineman in the NFL. He made the key fourth-down stop in the second quarter, splitting a double team and tracking down David Montgomery for a one-yard loss on fourth-and-inches from the Bengals' 18.

Al Golden told Fox Sports his impact has been "dramatic" and called it "the big difference." Lawrence said it differently from the field, screaming at the Texans: "You're blessed to be on this field with me."

Five different Bengals defenders posted at least four pressures against Houston. Cashius Howell played 41 snaps, generated six pressures, and ranks second among all NFL rookies in quarterback pressures with seven; Golden: "As a rusher, he knows exactly who he is. He's got a speed, he's got a dip, he's got to counter off that."

Cedric Johnson posted two sacks and two tackles for loss on 23 snaps, and has four sacks in his last three games dating back to last season. In 2025, the Bengals had three sacks through two weeks. In 2026, they have nine.

THE INJURY REPORT
Jonathan Allen Is Good to Go

Bengals Week 3 injury report

Allen missed Wednesday and Thursday with a rest/knee designation, returned to practice Friday, and Zac Taylor confirmed he's playing. BJ Hill (Achilles) sat out all week and is doubtful for the second consecutive game.

Burrow has no injury designation and was a full participant all week. A clip posted by the NFL showed him telling Chase and Higgins that a hit from Will Anderson Jr. had popped a displaced rib back into place mid-game.

Andrei Iosivas tore a ligament in his thumb against Houston, had surgery, and is headed to IR for 4-6 weeks. Burrow: "You can't just replace him with one guy. It'll be by committee for sure."

On the Pittsburgh side, cornerback Joey Porter Jr. (conditioning) is questionable, and running back Rico Dowdle (toe) is ruled out.

OFF THE FIELD
The NFL Fined Chase and Higgins $89,556 for the People's Elbow

Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins

Higgins drew four fines at $14,926 each ($59,704) and Chase drew two ($29,852), one for each time they did the celebration. Chase says it's a wrestling move and intends to appeal: "It was something different for us, something new, something we were trying to be unique. They're just stopping the fun."

COMING UP

Sun, Sep 27, 1 PM ET, at Pittsburgh Steelers (CBS)

A 3-0 start would be the first since 2015 and the first of the Burrow era. The Bengals are favored by 3.5.
